A little about me: (Pictures below) My Amateur Radio hobby started in May 1993 with my Novice operator Call VK1MTX, and in December 1993, I passed the Amateur Operator’s Certificate of Proficiency and received my existing call sign VK1TX. My first station consisted of a Yaesu FT901D complete station inc. Monitor, Ext VFO, Tuner and speaker. I
enjoy Dxing and running a few DX Nets-along with the general skeds talking with
my friends on the various Bands. Through
this hobby I have fostered many friends, both in Australia and Worldwide, who I
hope will become life time “mates” as they say in Australia. Because
of the supportive and very generous help from my radio friends, I was able to
visit The Dayton Hamvention last year 1999 and also visit numerous fellow hams
that I talked with on the air. Special
thanks go out to people like: N3SJL Gary, K9JJR Doc, K1IYD Oscar, W1FDY Jack and
WK6C Carmine. Consequently,
I have been privileged and had an opportunity to visit fellow radio hams in
Russia (Moscow) were I stayed with UA3DEA Val., including the many hams in the
UK, special thanks to Mel G4WMP. Having
worked 305 DXCC countries so far, things will get tough from now on as the
“new ones” seem to be fewer and harder to work. The
majority of my time is spent on SSB with very few CW contacts maybe awhile down
“the track”. I
am still relatively new to the Hobby and I have a lot to learn but I guess
that’s half the fun of this wonderful hobby of ours. My
major concern is the prevailing rudeness and subsequent lack of courtesy and
respect that is happening on the airways, that is the lack of patience and
rudeness of some operators. But
I guess we are all human and no one is perfect (although some seem to think so) Finally
please all you out there use the Bands. As someone said “Use them or LOSE
them” Your
